FootFractures Victor, NY

Since nearly one-fourth of the bones in our body are in our feet, fractures of the foot are common and can be debilitating. There are two types of fractures. A stress fracture typically occurs in the forefoot. They are tiny cracks in the bone, often resulting from overuse or repetitive stress, rather than a single, forceful impact. A complete bone fracture extend through the bone. These injuries are usually caused by a singular forceful impact to the foot. Unlike complete breaks, stress fractures are often gradual and may not cause immediate, severe pain.

Depending on the fracture and placement, different treatments will be discussed. Foot fractures typically heal on their own, although more serious cases may require surgery.

It is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible if you suspect your foot is fractured so treatment can begin right away.
